Talking rugby, watches and armwrestling with the All Blacks legend Zinzan Brooke

Hello

I was honoured to meet one of the worlds best rugby players Zinzan Brooke yesterday when we had a great afternoon chatting about rugby and trying on some very cool watches.

For those who may not follow rugby Zinzan has had  a phenomenal international rugby career playing for his home country New Zealand.

Having captained the Auckland Blues to success in multiple championships and playing 58 test matches for New Zealand he is considered to be one of the best number eights to have ever played for the All Blacks. He had the running and kicking skills of a backline player which made Zinzan extremely mobile and agile as a forward.

One of his most memorable events was when he kicked a 47 metre drop goal during the 1995 Rubgy World Cup.

I had my son Jason with me too who loves his rugby and for him it was a great experience and will no doubt be a very memorable occasion to have met such a legend.

Zinzan tried on some watches from our collection… we only had a few that would fit his generously sized wrist. First we tried on the very elegant Panerai 514 Radiomir which really looked the part and was perfectly suited to Zinzan’s wrist. Next he wore the IWC Big Pilot Ceramic. The big titanium winding crown was very much admired along with it’s amazing lightness.

Finally Zinzan modelled the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deep Sea. It’s extending bracelet with the unique Gridlock clasp made a great impact… and it fitted him!

So overall a great day and I nearly won the arm wrestle….more training for me for our next meeting.

Here are some snaps!
