Paul Newman’s Daytona to be auctioned

Hello

There is much excitement across the globe for motoring and watch enthusiasts as it has been announced that the watch owned by the legend Paul Newman is to be auctioned in October this year.

The Paul Newman Rolex Daytona is the most mythical and legendary timepiece in existence. The Rolex Daytona Cosmograph was purchased by Newman’s wife, Joanne Woodward, for $300 in the late ’60s. She bought the timepiece as a gift for Newman, with the phrase “Drive Carefully Me” engraved on the back, since it was around the time of his racing career. The Paul Newman-type Daytonas are the most sought-after vintage Rolexes today.

However, today the story broke that Phillips has found that particular wristwatch and will place it under the hammer in the auction house’s inaugural New York auction set to take place on October 26, 2017. Newman’s own Reference 6239 with a personal inscription on the back from Woodward (“Drive Carefully Me”) has never been offered publicly before.

At a recent Philipps auction a Rolex 6062 was sold for just over $5 million so it is predicted that Paul Newman’s watch will considerable exceed that.

We will wait with excitement to see what this magical watch achieves, however as an alternative and for millions of pounds less we have hand picked our own collection of Rolex Daytona’s, some in stainless steel and others in the attractive combination of stainless steel and 18ct yellow gold. Due to the size of these (40mm) we find that they are very popular with ladies and gentleman. Please take a look at our Rolex Daytona Collection.
