With what has been a very busy month here at EWC where we welcomed many new customers it was time to take off with some friends and head across to the West of Scotland.
This is a very special part of the world with simply breathtaking scenery, wonderful wildlife, delicious local cuisine and locals that welcome tourism.
We left Edinburgh early on Friday morning with a group of 17 friends and four Rib boats with Arisaig as our harbour to launch from. It takes circa 3.5 hours when pulling the boats but the scenery en route via Glencoe makes every mile a memorable pleasure.
The party were returning to our favourite haunt which is on the Isle of Muck. Muck is one of the Small Isles (Canna, Muck, Eigg and Rum) and is two miles long and one mile wide. The population totals around 40 people but unlike many islands that are often only occupied as holiday homes Muck has a permanent and thriving community.
We were paying guests to the family Toby and Mary Fichtner-Irvine that own the Isle of Muck who have recently built a stunning new home called Gallanach Lodge. You may think a lodge as being small, this however is no small lodge with 8 individually styled bedrooms and catering for 18! The lodge operates as a very successful business providing luxury accommodation for shooting parties and an ultimate getaway from it all. The food is all local whether seafood, game, meat or home grown vegetables. Mary is also a bloody good cook and we can also report they have a splendid selection of complimentary wines too! As you will see from the pictures the view from the lodge is awesome and you can just sit there for hours admiring the scenery…especially with Toby constantly offering various brands of Gin!

During our weekend we made day trips to Eigg, Rum and the Isle of Skye where we saw seals relaxing on the rocks and beautiful landscapes.
Sunday morning after a very good breakfast brought us some rather challenging weather to encounter before arriving at Arisaig. Force 7 winds and a fair swirl certainly looked interesting! We made it back ok but not without a very good test of our waterproofs.
