In the spirit of the festive season when chocolates, mulled wine and log fires come to mind we have taken some of our EWC watches out of their boxes to be modelled for your pleasure.
Here’s a few words about the watches on show.
The Omega Speedmaster Triple Date is a rare example from the legendary watch maker. It belongs to one of our clients who has asked us to find it a good home. I would say that in it’s un-refurbished condition it is an 8/10 watch and is fitted with a leather strap and Omega deployment clasp. This can be sold as seen or fully refurbished, serviced and warranted for a little more!
The Rolex Sea-Dweller is an unworn watch that has just arrived with us, it’s papers are dated late December 2014. This is the new model that was launched by Rolex at this years Basel watch fair. It is a very handsome watch that has stayed true to the original Sea-Dweller but with some subtle enhancements. The rotating bezel is now made in Ceramic Cerachrom and replaces the traditional aluminium bezel. The Cerachrom bezel is very strong and highly resistant to scratches. The stainless steel bracelet now feels more substantial and includes a very useful Glidelock function which enables the wearer to easily adjust it on their wrist without tools. Great for summer when your wrist can expand in the heat…not so much in Scotland! For night time reading it is now much easier to tell the time as Rolex have introduced their Maxidot dial. The size remains at 40mm so a comfortable size for everyday wear for ladies and gentleman.
Sitting alongside the sports Rolex we have a very rare watch from the highly prestigious swiss manufacturer Franck Muller. The exact model is a Casablanca Chrono so it combines regular timekeeping with a stopwatch function all elegantly contained in a solid 18ct Rose Gold case complimented with a brown crocodile strap. The original papers indicate that this was made in 1998 but it has sat in someone’s safe and has never been worn. The watch and strap are therefore in perfect condition. It comes in a beautiful wooden box and leather certificate box. A really exceptional timepiece at fraction of it’s new price. As the trend for ladies is to wear bigger watches now this while initially designed for gentleman would suit both….perhaps a watch than can be shared! I did mention this idea to a male friend last week who instantly dismissed the idea of sharing as he said he would never see it again!!!
Our final watch model perched on the log needs no introduction as this Rolex 18ct Daytona Cosmograph is a legendary watch made famous by Paul Newman and it’s strong association with the world of motor sport. The Daytona is probably the most desirable watch in the world and for many years the steel version of this had 5 year long waiting lists! This particular watch was made in 2003 and until December this year had been stored in it’s box unworn. This might seem surprising but our experience is that often watches are just bought by collectors/enthusiasts and just stored away as an investment. The black dial with gold sub dials is a rare yet beautiful configuration that sits well with the depth of colour in the solid gold case and bracelet
Hanging off a bottle of Margaux is an unworn December 2014 Rolex Submariner. This arrived with us last week and is still in all of it’s protective wrappers. Nicknamed by enthusiasts as the “Bluesy” due to it’s deep blue dial and bezel this is one of Rolex’s best selling sports watches. This very latest model is finished in stainless steel and 18ct gold and is stunning on the wrist. It is a watch that suits so many occasions, every day, a special occasion or deep under water should you desire! All of Rolex’s improvements are fitted to this model including the new more substantial bracelet, the Glidelock clasp, the Maxidot dial and Ceramic Cerachrom bezel.
And finally gracing the bottle of fine bubbly is an unworn December 2014 Rolex Yachtmaster. Another very popular model in the Rolex sports range. This 40mm ladies/gents version has the latest deep blue dial with a contrasting red second hand. The watch case is made in stainless steel with a solid Platinum bezel. The bracelet combines brushed stainless steel with polished centre links. This is a very elegant timepiece suitable for any event.
