The return of the legend!
Astronaut Walter Schirra’s 1962 mission took OMEGA to space for the first time. This legendary Speedmaster returns, reimagined for a new generation. A tribute to the original featuring the “Dot Over Ninety” and vintage OMEGA logo, with a new sapphire crystal that recreates the classic domed shape of the 1962 model.
The Speedmaster became the first OMEGA in space during Astronaut Walter Schirra’s groundbreaking Sigma 7 mission in 1962. This pivotal 9-hour, 13-minute, and 11-second flight saw Schirra orbit Earth six times, establishing the Speedmaster as an essential piece of space kit. NASA’s subsequent certification for all manned missions cemented OMEGA’s place in aerospace history. Today’s watch is based on the original CK-2998 model
A legacy reinvented!
More than 60 years after Schirra’s historic mission, OMEGA honours this legacy with a special re-edition of the Speedmaster.
Powered by a manual-winding chronograph movement with Co-Axial escapement, the Speedmaster First OMEGA in Space is certified as a Master Chronometer. Approved by METAS, it resists magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss, with a free-sprung balance and silicon balance spring. Rhodium-plated finishes and straight Geneva waves elevate its precision.
OMEGA’s new sapphire crystal replicates the classic domed shape of Hesalite, seen on the first 1962 Speedmaster.
