We have here something very special watch from the famous luxury Swiss manufacturer Girard-Perregaux. This is the second of a pair of unworn watches we have bought from a private collection, the other one being recently sold.
This beautiful timepiece was manufactured in 1999 to celebrate 70 years of Ferrari’s involvement in motorsport. The Ferrari racing division is known as Scuderia Ferrari and this carries that legendary name given to the team in the days of Enzo Ferrari.
This limited edition example No.72 of only 250 made which is engraved on the rear of the case.
While it is beautiful in its 18ct solid yellow gold case and with a contrasting black dial this is also a highly technical and complicated timepiece allowing split second recording via an additional second hand. The left hand sub dial also allows an 1/8th second measurement.
When you choose not to wear this watch it comes complete in a striking Girard-Perregeaux Haute Horologerie wooden box that is in keeping for such an exquisite watch.
The instruction manual and official certificate are together in an A4 document detailing the model and countersigned by the President and Chief Horologist for Girard-Perregeaux.
Overall we think this is an exceptional watch with such a wonderful history of watch making and motorsport and a magnificent gift for a watch lover or Ferrari enthusiast.
Here is some further technical specification.
Case:- Three-body, solid, brushed and polished, concave lugs, case back with 7 screws, engraved with “Scuderia Ferrari” dedication, winding crown with co-axial button to activate the split-seconds function, domed sapphire crystal.
