We are delighted to announce the arrival of the new Basel 2017 launch Rolex Sea-Dweller 50th anniversary watch.
This was one of the most exciting models launched by Rolex at this annual international watch fair.
Celebrating 50 years of this iconic sports divers watch Rolex have come up trumps with this watch by bringing it out not only with a new 43mm sized case but also by introducing the red Sea-Dweller writing on the dial.
This has caused massive excitement in the watch community and is exactly what everyone had hoped for.
While the watch itself is simply striking to look at it gets better as Rolex have fitted it with their new calibre 3235 movement, a new-generation movement entirely developed in house. This offers fundamental gains in terms of precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks and magnetic fields, convenience and reliability. It incorporates the new Chronergy escapement patented by Rolex, which combines high energy efficiency with great dependability. Made of nickel-phosphorus, it is also insensitive to magnetic interference.
An optimized blue Parachrom hairspring is fitted to the oscillator, the true heart of the watch. Patented and manufactured by Rolex in an exclusive paramagnetic alloy, it is up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks. A Rolex overcoil ensures its regularity in any position. Calibre 3235 is equipped with a self-winding module via a Perpetual rotor. Thanks to its new barrel architecture and the escapement’s superior efficiency, the power reserve of calibre 3235 extends to approximately 70 hours.
The benefit of this new technology movement is that the precision of this superlative chronometer ensures accuracy in the order of −2/+2 seconds per day, or more than twice that required of an official chronometer.
Due to the very high demand which is considerably exceeding supply this is now one of the new Rolex’s like the ceramic Daytona that is achieving a premium over RRP. It is unknown at this point whether this is a limited production or not however in our view should Rolex decide to stop the anniversary model then we would expect prices for this model to increase further as a collectors investment watch.
Our watch is dated July 2017 and is complete in it’s Rolex protective seals and with an international warranty until July 2022. We would welcome a part exchange against this superb timepiece.
