Firstly, I must apologise for the lack of blogs over the last month but its been very busy here at EWC in the lead up to Christmas trying to help fill all those stockings!
I hope that you all has a wonderful Christmas break and are now looking forward to bringing in the New Year.
2016 has been really really exciting here as we have welcomed many new customers to EWC who are now enjoying their beautiful watches. Equally we are seeing a number of our existing customers returning to part exchange or perhaps buy a gift for their families. I try to stock watches that I believe will have a strong residual value and often by buying a mint pre owned or unworn example it makes a big difference in any future sale.
Looking back over 2016 I have had a great opportunity to promote the EWC brand with a trip to Le Mans flying the EWC flag, heading up north to Aberdeenshire for the Royal Deeside Speed Festival and various events with Knockhill and at the SECC for the Ignition Festival. Each of these are a great way to meet other watch enthusiasts and share my passion for watches. For 2017 we will be at all of these events and adding on some extra one’s too.
Its been an interesting time watching the watch market place. In particular the Rolex rumour of a price rise had dealers, consumers and independent specialists like EWC on tender hooks for what the price rise would look like. Eventually it happened with prices increasing around 10/12% and better aligned UK with global pricing. Interest from abroad is very strong due to the currency exchange in their favour and I believe many watches are leaving the UK.
As a result of this I have seen watches on the pre-owned market significantly increase. A good example being the Rolex Daytona with some of the classic watches commanding prices well in excess of the new model Daytona RRP. Some of the classic Submariners and GMT Masters are also doing very well and are great long term investments if they are complete with all the correct paperwork.
The rumour mill has already started of a further Rolex price rise in the New Year so we will just have to wait and see.
I have bought a great selection of unworn sports Rolex recently including the gorgeous new Yachtmaster so please take a look around our collection if you fancy a New Year’s treat.
Wishing you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
