Here we have something very special and extremely rare from Omega.
This is the first watch manufactured by Omega with the coaxial escapement movement – one of this century major horological inventions.
Now found in Omega’s premium watches this practically eliminates all friction between the pallet wheel and pallets, which had long been a source of lubrication problems in mechanical watches.
Designed by the late George Daniels this is very much a collectors watch as there were only 999 made in 1999 and all are now sold out.
This example is in excellent condition and comes complete with all warranty cards, manuals, limited edition certificate (284/999), chronometer certificate and inner/outer box, so just as it left the factory.
It was sent to Omega for a full service in 2013 but instead of being locally serviced it went back to Omega Switzerland, so back home to the factory! It had all the parts that were replaced returned with the watch too.
It is made in 18k yellow gold (solid) with an Omega 2500 chronometer movement.
The crystal is scratch resistant with an anti reflective treatment.
It is fitted to a dark brown crocodile leather strap with a replant clasp
The silver dial has 12 facets and heavily profiled polished Roman numerals and hour markers.
Overall the watch is in excellent condition. The strap has been used but is original.
A great investment that can be worn every day.
